Good Day for Sailing in Holland
Travel To Europe March 25th, 2010

It’s still early. Bone cold air, though the sun was shining brightly in the blue sky Wind Wheel Affairs, The Netherlands. That morning I walked along the pier, looking for a sailboat I ever rent a year ago.
A few days before I left for Amsterdam, I’ve sent word to rent boats. Although not among those who like to plan activities, but to visit in the Netherlands should we tell our arrival a few days earlier. This has become a European tradition.
Sweet Water
In the distance I saw an old sailor and his family welcomed me with a wave. I immediately ran over to them. We also go out to sea after sea traffic signs to give the green light. In the Netherlands, was not only the land that had a sign. However, there were at sea. The sailors are here recorded by marine security. They are also required to ship and boat parked neatly.
Dutch flag colors look sharp contrast with the color of the sky, sea, timber ships and boats. White clouds seemed not too much. A cold wind blew fresh. It’s beautiful. In contrast to the sea in the ground water that tastes salty, sea here tends sweet taste. That’s why they call it ’sweet water’. I “tried to touch the sea water from the ship … cold is not playing. Looks like the remnants of winter are still remaining.
Sailing One Century More
This family has 4 pieces of rented sailboats to tourists. However, of all the ship, this ship is so proud of them. The first ship is 100 years old is more, “Jacobs Schelp” in 1899. His condition is still very good. Here the ship was not seaworthy to ‘aka discarded.
On this ship there in bed, kitchen, toilets and tables and chairs for writing. Being outside, is a table used for eating, drinking and laughing . That day we tour around Holland. Remember, not all regions in the Netherlands could say Holland. Only certain areas only, before finally expanded.
We had lunch on the boat. Tomato soup served with bread as an appetizer. After that bread sandwiches with a variety of content, such as chicken, duck, salmon and pork. We ate dishes like big happy family. After that, I had tried to steer the ship. Well, it’s very handsome! Meanwhile, the captain who was 72 years old accompanied me, his wife who was half her age, bring coffee, tea and cheese slices. Yum!
This family had 9 children. The ninth is Elke, who is only interested in their children with early sailing. At the age of 9 years, Elke asked to quit school to go sailing. Since then he taught by his mother to keep the state can take the exam. At present he was only 12 years old, but with so skilled he was able to open the ship.
Adventure time
After sailing, the afternoon I took a walk around the city of Amsterdam, who happened to be holding the carnival. Since the stomach is hungry, I immediately bought a waffle covered in chocolate and nuts are sold in the carnival. His waffles form large, almost as wide as my face, making stuffed devoured.
The cold air made me buy a can of beer to warm the body. Understandably, this is the price of a bottle of beer cheaper than bottled water because of the need to warm the body with Higher alcohol. Then I took myself to try some rides are available on the game’s carnival. When at home we know the night market, something like this is the night market in the Netherlands, similar to all vehicles Dufan he exclaimed.
Opening Insights & Knowledge
Not far from the carnival area, there is a memorial statue symbolizing the shackles of homosexuals in the past. Fortunately, now gays in the Netherlands was able to enjoy independence. That is why some gay couples from Indonesia often carry out here because of her marriage was legal.
In addition, there are some other things that might not happen in this country that can be freely enjoyed here. But of course with the regulations, age limits and guarded behavior. For example a shop that sells various types of marijuana from various countries. Then the famous center of prostitution under the name “Red Light District”, where women are mostly from Eastern Europe were displayed in glass windows throughout the area.
The program includes theater district, museums and shops selling sexual support needs. All this freedom is believed to keep the prostitution occurs in certain places only and do not go around drunk in public areas that could disturb the order.
But be careful if you want to take on the Red Light District, because they are very ‘camera conscious’, even if you took a picture of a candid though. So they will probably charge a decent made bankrupt.
Although we had colonized by the Dutch for 3.5 centuries, but in fact many differences between this country and our homeland. Very democratic here, where politics and religion do not mix each other, but respect everyone’s right. Where higher taxes and insurance are required.
Where the car park to reach EUR 4 per hour and the price is very high rent. Where health and education is a priority country and so on. Certainly different from the atmosphere in the ground water. Apparently 16 million people adjust more easily than 220 million people manage. Things I learned here. Adventure in the country people are opening our insight and knowledge.
Shopping & Going Around
I also got into a stall that sells used books to sell at a price worth EUR 5 to EUR 15. Besides books, the store also sells clothing, tools and household antiques. Exciting shopping there. And for a walk, I often ride my bike like many other Dutch citizens.
Besides cycling, I also use a public facility that is very popular and populist in the Netherlands, the tram. For the tram ride, we can pay EUR 1.6 per trip (in town), or buy tickets for EUR 6.5 for some time travel. We submit this ticket to the tram driver for branded, as we mentioned earlier our stops. Uniquely, this ticket can also be used to take the bus.
To go to museums, galleries and attractions, ticket prices ranged between EUR 4 and EUR 15. The price for children and adults of course different. Several museums, galleries and tourist attractions operate on certain days only. Usually in the summer, they open much longer. But this can be checked through their website.
Do not forget to also save money around EUR 35 for a cab to the airport when the by-by you quite a lot. But for the backpacker, the airport can also be reached by bus or tram.
Well, for you who want to adventure here, please start saving from now for next spring!
